Chicago Illinois’ Oceano are the embodiment of all that is exciting and dangerous about extreme music. Just when you thought that the genre could not be taken any further and that we had reached the limits of extremity, out from the abyss rises a band so intense, so mind cavingly brutal that you just have to take notice and listen.

‘Depths’ is certainly a very suiting term when trying to sum up the sound of Oceano. Picture the crushing weight of an Ocean bearing down on you as you are pulled kicking and writhing into the void. Immense force closing in on you as the pressure removes the breath from your lungs. This is brutal death metal in its most savage and unrelenting form. This is no mere boast, this is fact!

Oceano mix the intensity of Grindcore and death metal with an an unnerving sense of dynamics; seamlessly taking fast paced blast beats down to a sub sonic gut wrenching chug. A guitar tone so thick it could sink a battle ship and vocals so barbaric that its hard to believe that the person they were spewed from is even human. This is far from your run of the mill brutal death metal. The now signature song ‘Samael The Destroyer’ is a perfect example of this fact and serves to demonstrate Oceano’s incredible knack of taking what we once thought was extreme to the next level. And with ‘Depths’ - that next level is down.
