EARACHE RECORDS SIGN MISTRESS
|
| Earache is proud to announce the signing of notorious antisocial scumsters MISTRESS to a worldwide deal. Having festered and thrived in the midst of the grimy UK grind/hardcore scene during the last few years, the band have contaminated all who they have come into contact with via a heady mixture of alcoholic inebriation, bluntly opinionated confrontation and basic feral violence. |
Formed in Birmingham during 1999, Mistress have released two albums to date - 'Mistress' and 'The Chronovisor' - to rave reviews and have gigged with the likes of Napalm Death, Mayhem, Electric Wizard, Bolt Thrower and Extreme Noise Terror. Their hard-to-pin-down sound comes across as a sickening sludge/grind/doom hybrid, reminsicent of the early UK grind scene of the late 80's and early 90's, and has been described as 'a vile musical bastard, a bilious, screaming, snot-faced sludge orphan with all the taste and decorum of a sexual encounter in Wormwood Scrubbs'.

The band's refreshingly gritty approach to extreme sounds brought them to attention of Earache, whose label manager Dan Tobin comments; 'Mistress represent a lot of what the extreme music scene is lacking these days; hunger, depravity, filth, honesty, grim reality, pain, suffering and a sick appreciation for the bizarre. After breathing in the stench, we became intoxicated by their vile aura.'
Commenting on their new union, Mistress' Dave Cunt enthused; 'Mistress are both drunk with joy and just plain drunk over our signing with Earache.
Mistress have ourselves been fans of various bands on the label since the early MOSH days and now it's great to join the list of acts associated with the Earache stable in our own right. So raise a glass/dirty needle/cup of urine, here's to the next album of filth - this time with Earache written on it!'
Plans are now in the pipeline for the forthcoming release of new Mistress album 'In Disgust We Trust' via Earache in early 2005. A split 7" with Napalm Death/Melvins/Brutal Truth side project Venomous Concept is also planned. |
