Working on new material
Guitarist Martin "Sigtyr" Thim of the Danish death metallers Exmortem has posted the following message on the band’s official website:
"It’s been a long time since the last update again...and the thing is that theres not a hell lot to tell really. Morten [Siersbaek, drums] is in France at the moment and in the meantime me and Andreas [Schubert, guitar] continue working on new material.
We are also working on a four-track rehearsal that should be done in a few weeks, but this will not be made official in any way!
"Andreas is involved in Lithium that have recorded a MCD and are looking for a label, they should have a site up soon... Simon [Petersen, vocals] has just finished a new album with Horned Almighty that should be out soon. In Illdisposed we are awaiting the release date on the new album, plus the touring schedule that follows...more on this as it [becomes] available!"
Exmortem’s latest album, "Nihilistic Contentment", was released in January 2005 via Earache/Wicked World Records. The CD was recorded over a four-week period at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Hatesphere, Mnemic).

Exmortem were previously signed to France’s Osmose Productions and Holland’s Hammerheart Records.

EXMORTEM writing and demoing songs for new album
Exmortem are hard at work writing and demoing new material for their highly anticipated follow-up to ‘NIHILISTIC CONTENTMENT’ which was released earlier this year on Wicked World / Earache.
Guitarist Sigtyr had this to say:
“We are really hard at work on the new album right now. We look at this as the most important Exmortem album so far, because we want to set a new standard for ourselves and do something fresh”
“As something new for us, we are recording demos of all the material and this has turned out to be a huge help and a great way to work with the new album”
“We still don’t know where and when we will record, but we are looking at the different options right now. Only thing that’s sure is that we won’t record until we are ready and 100% satisfied with the new material. A few of the song titles that will appear on the album are: “Slow Death Regime” and “Salvation”

EXMORTEM Expand line up for touring
Danish brutallists EXMORTEM have expanded their line-up from the trio of yore to a five-piece for the first time in over half a decade the eve of another batch of shows, including an appearance at the Jalometalli Festival taking place in Oulu, Finland on the 19th – 20th August 2005. Other bands over the weekend include Entombed and Dissection and more info is available at: www.jalometalli.net
Long-standing guitarist SIGTYR explains the expansion:

“From now on Exmortem will continue as a five piece. Andreas has taken over the 2ND guitarist spot and we are working with a new session bass player. The main reason for getting a second guitarist is the fact that the new tracks will have a lot more second guitar work, so we want to go back to having two guitarist live to get some more power and be able to play all the extra stuff live as well!”
And on new album work:
“New material is being worked on and the first few songs are more or less done, showing a slightly new direction for the band, but that's also about all we will reveal at this point! The goal is to have the next album ready next year!

Exmortem are currently booking shows for the upcoming fall and winter seasons! Agents, bookers etc. get in contact!

EXMORTEM 'BITTER DISCIPLIN' VIDEO NOW ONLINE
Visceral, savage and gut wrenching.... All words to describe the new EXMORTEM video 'Bitter Disciplin' now showing on earache.com. Filmed in sub zero temperatures in a disused warehouse space back in December, 'Bitter Disciplin' makes full use of disjointed visual effects to leave the viewer feeling genuinely uncomfortable. EXMORTEM mainman Sigtyr describes the video as "a fucking raw piece of visual aggression! 666% attitude on the screen!"

EXMORTEM COMPLETE FILMING OF NEW VIDEO
In a break from preparations for their January 2005 tour of the UK with Behemoth, Exmortem have completed the filming for a new promo video for the song ‘Bitter Disciplin’, taken from the forthcoming ‘Nihilistic Contentment’ album. Speaking straight after the shoot, guitarist Sigtyr was enthused by what the band had achieved with the filming:
“Hey all, the video shot went fucking great!!! I still can’t believe what we did yesterday/last night, it was the most crazy/fucked up far out shit I’ve been involved in for a long time…!! We worked for 24 hours straight...got home at 07.00 this morning! And all the time it was freezing! There was no heat in these abandoned buildings!”
“We had found four locations at this old cement factory (abandoned for 15 years or so…) and the first location where we wanted to shot the whole band was in this fucking huge silo. We had to carry all the equipment up this very small staircase (outside the silo) up on what must have been fifth/sixth floor…
But we managed to get it all up and when we put up lights, smoke machine etc. inside it just looked so damn cool! A huge dome of destruction!”

The video itself should be ready just in advance of the album’s release on January 17, with the UK touring running from the 13th January to the 22nd.
Asked to sum up the way the clip will look, Sigtyr claims “... somehow I think that it has this ALIEN (the movie) look/feeling to it...?! Very cold and obscure!”

Except to see the ‘Bitter Disciplin’ video first online at earache.com early in 2005

EXMORTEM - NEW WICKED WORLD SIGNING
Wicked World is proud to welcome Danish wrecking crew Exmortem to a multi-album worldwide recording deal.
Brandishing a particularly savage brand of twisted Death Metal as their weapon of choice, Exmortem have released their two previous albums via Hammerheart and Osmose, and toured Europe last year with Necrophagia, before settling in their new home. With a new album, 'Nihilistic Contentment', already recorded, the band are looking to open 2005 with the release followed by extensive touring.
The album was recorded at Antfarm Studios in Denmark by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Hatesphere. Mnemic) and features 10 barbaric tunes, blending musical precision with lyrical depravity in equal measures.
Exmortem's Sigtyr had this to say about the band's new union. "We are very proud to announce that we have signed with one of the world's leading labels in extreme music!! With a crew that have worked to be on the forefront of the scene for 15 years or more, we feel confident that we have found the best home for Exmortem. We will do our best to make this a success and the new album should be the first step in that direction!"
MP3's and a confirmed release date for 'Nihilistic Contenment' will be available shortly.
