| RIVAL SONS are a raucous, maximum-blues-infused, hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, who explode with the rhythm and roughness of some of the greatest rock acts of all time. Hailed as "The unlikely saviours of American Rock"(Classic Rock) Lead Vocalist Jay Buchanan, guitarist Scott Holiday, bassist Robin Everhart, and drummer Mike Miley were brought together by a love of music, but also, in their own words, they "want to give the people the rock and roll they deserve by keeping it honest, visceral, and dangerous". "By God, it's been too long since a band in mainstream hard rock was this unafraid to wail." - CBS News From the first moment the band got together there has been a special artistic chemistry, landing them opening slots with legends like AC/DC and ALICE COOPER, several USO shows with KID ROCK, and a tv performance from The Indianapolis 500. |
The Huffington Post dubbed RIVAL SONS as "one of the top 5 bands to watch" at CMJ Music Marathon in NYC at the end of 2010 and after that performance the band signed a deal with Earache Records. "There was just the right amount of audacity and bending of the rules for us to dig the idea of being on a [traditionally] death metal label." says guitarist, Scott Holiday. February 2011 saw Rival Sons make their European debut at The Barfly, London as part of the "HMV Next big thing". The show was a sell out and went down a storm with punters and publications "These Californian classic rockers have balls." - NME; people became aware that RIVAL SONS were going places... As it happened the place was the 1974 studio back in LA to record the new album "Pressure & Time". "Pressure & Time" was recorded in just 20 days ensuring a rawness for both the listener and the band. The band committed themselves to creating an experience that closely matched the attitude and excitement of one of their live performances. "Pressure & Time" RIVAL SONS' full length EARACHE debut, produced by Dave Cobb with the cover art by Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Muse) was released in the UK & Europe in June 2011 and in the USA in July 2011 to stunning reviews and critical acclaim worldwide: |
