AKERCOCKE SHOOT VIDEO FOR "AXIOM" WITH HSI LONDON
On Monday May 14th, sharp suited metal maestros Akercocke arrived at Wilton’s Music Hall in London to begin shooting their video for the brand new track "Axiom", lifted from the stunning new album ‘Antichrist’.
The shoot was undertaken by highly acclaimed promo clip company HSI (responsible for classic clips by Nirvana, My Chemical Romance, Coheed And Cambria, etc).

The video was directed by Erica Herbert. She specializes in a dark, elegant style of imagery that compliments the band perfectly. With a mixture of band performance and storyline in the form of 2 beautiful seductive girls dressing & undressing one another, the viewer will witness a clever twist in the normal performance alongside storyline format.
Front man, Jason Mendonca had the following to say about the shoot: “The new video for "Axiom" promises to be a tremendously surreal work indeed. Erica Herbert’s dreamlike direction and Schwanmeir-esque approach should make for a unique and beautiful visual outing”
The video will soon be ready to view on most major music channels.
'Antichrist' is released in UK on May 28th and USA on July 17th.

Akercocke 'Antichrist' album banned by US pressing plant
The forthcoming album from Akercocke, abruptly titled ‘Antichrist’, has run into more controversy. The provocative nature of the record has already led to problems in Ireland, where the band will take part in a live discussion on the ‘Nolan Live’ show on BBC1 Northern Ireland tonight at 10.45pm with members of the Irish Catholic clergy.
Now the album has run into problems in the US, where the pressing plant handling the production of the album, Disc USA, has refused to handle the record due its ‘anti-Christian’ perspective. Commenting on the decision, Akercocke frontman Jason Mendonca stated:
“I rather perturbed that in this day and age, the 21st Century, people are so uptight. Whatever happened to freedom of speech and freedom of expression in the alleged democracy of the USA? Censorship is always ugly no matter how you view it. It smacks of fascism to me. What other works of art are barred to the good people of America?
The attitude of the printers is typical of the brainwashed. Judging something (literally) by its cover.
Anyone who took the time to look into our history would recognise that we have always stated we are anything but anti-christian. It's divisive attitudes such as this that bring about conflict. Conflict through ignorance.”
Akercocke’s ‘Antichrist’ is currently set for May 28 release in UK/Europe, with an American release due on July 17.

Akercocke's Antichrist sparks religious debate on BBC TV
The upcoming release of UK death metal giants Akercocke's latest album 'Antichrist' has caused uproar amongst Northern Ireland's religious community, and is set to be the subject of a major religious debate live on BBC1 Northern Ireland tonight.
The overtly satanic content contained within 'Antichrist' has come under attack by religious forces, leading to the band's vocalist Jason Mendonca facing a head- to-head live TV debate that will air on BBC1's 'Nolan Live' show. The debate will be broadcast live via satellite link at 10.45pm on BBC Northern Ireland following Akercocke's gig on May 16th at Nottingham's Rock City. This meeting of minds is sure to stir waves of controversy ahead of their show in Belfast on May 18th and Dublin on May 19th, and with the 'Antichrist' misson statement in full force, Akercocke are sure to voice their closely held satanic beliefs.
To find out more about 'Antichrist' and to listen exclusively to the track 'Summon The Antichrist' that has ignited this controversy, head over to www.myspace.com/akercockeantichrist.
'Antichrist' is released in the UK on Earache Records on Monday May 28th (UK) and July 17th (USA) Stephen Nolan's show can be viewed online at www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/nolan/

Akercocke in the studio
Akercocke's as yet untitled album is currently being recorded by the band at their own Goat of Mendes Studios in West London.
Jason states:
“The studio has recently undergone a refit following the recording of the previous album Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That go Undone and is now a fully digital facility.
It's been interesting to have to work with the new equipment on this new album. Ideally I would have liked to have completed some demo work at GoM  first to familiarise myself with the new digital mixing console, but this wasn't possible so it's been a steep learning curve whilst doing the pre-production for the album.
The drums are 80% recorded and are sounding very powerful. I am particularly pleased about this as even at this early stage I think the source sounds are even better than on Words. David has played some killer performances with one section of blasting topping out at a genuine,
accurate 280BPM (he's playing to a click track so we know this for sure).
I am reluctant to divulge too much about the new material other than to say 2006 was a difficult year for us and I think this has been subconsciously reflected in the vitriolic sound of some of the songs. I can safely say that this will be our most aggressive work to date. I am pleased about this as it means we are beginning the 10th year of our bands history in the way we intend to continue - making extremely dark, violent and challenging music.
Drum sessions are expected to reach a frightening conclusion by the 29th of January. At that time work on the guitars will begin. I'm really looking forward to recording the guitars this time. We've got some fantastic new amplification from Hughes and Kettner that I reckon will make a significant difference in creating an extraordinarily heavy yet clear sound.”

Akercocke bassist announces departure
Akercocke’s bassist Peter Theobalds has today announced his surprise departure from the band. This sudden news comes just as founding members Jason Mendonca and David Gray celebrate the band’s tenth anniversary this year.
Peter has said of his departure:
“It's been possibly the most difficult decision in my life to make but after 10 years of the beast that Akercocke has become, it's time to hit the highway in search of new adventures. My reasons are many and varied but the principal factor has been that the original vibe that drove me to play has gone, the fun, the utter immersion of the music and friendship and the camaraderie has been slowly eroding for me personally over the last year or so.
It’s given me so many unforgettable moments and brought me into contact with some amazing human beings and situations and I shall sincerely miss all of those aspects. But my heart tells me its time to seek other ideals and situation. I will NOT be giving up music however and will continue to bash out some form of pseudo metallic noise, until chronic rheumatoid arthritis turns my hands into claws or Alzheimer’s finally puts paid to what little common sense I currently possess.
Massive massive respect to all those people that have been so unbelievably supportive and encouraging: - my family, the fans, the crews, the bands and other random maniacs that have been there for me all the way. I’d love to do a thank you list but it would just be so long and I’d inevitably forget someone and get branded a total cunt (again), so I’ll just say that I raise a glass to all of your honour!
See you in the pit dear friends.
Respect
P.”

Meanwhile, Akercocke continue and are pleased to announce Peter Benjamin (Concept, Corpsing, Pantheist) as their new bass player, as the band commence work on their fifth studio album at Goat of Mendes Studios London. The as yet untitled new album is slated for a May 14 2007 release on Earache Records.

AKERCOCKE CHANGE GEAR
Akercocke are gearing up for the recording of their fifth album. The suited ones plan to commence recording at their very own Goat of Mendes Studios in December.
Frontman Jason Mendonca describes the new material as "...a logical development from Words That Go Unspoken. We are continuing to enhance and highlight the dynamics in our music. The contrast between light and shade is stronger in places although in essence, our new work promises to be our most violent. Expect hyperblast speeds that will shame the pretenders. Bludgeoning primitive death grooves, rancorous hate filled black metal and teutonic thrash assaults all seared with swathes of mind shredding electronica and dark, ancient textures."

Akercocke's last album "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" was released on Earache in 2005. The forthcoming album to be released in May 2007 will be the band's third with Earache records.

AKERCOCKE VIDEO SHOT IN SOHO STRIP CLUB
Progressive Death Metallers Akercocke have dived straight into new territory and filmed the video for the song ‘Intractable’ in an exclusive gentleman’s club in the depths of London’s Soho district.
The idea for the video, shot by UK production company Multiplicity was developed from a storyboard drawn up by the band’s drummer David Gray.
Taken from 2005’s ‘Words That Go Unspoken’ release, the video for ‘Intractable’ will feature an explosive performance from Akercocke in a club within the heart of London’s infamous Soho district. Fans can expect to see Akercocke blasting away to the audience, surrounded by the expected x-rated entertainment typical of Soho’s more ‘adult’ locale.

‘Intractable’ is expected to hit screens before the end of September but as ever the first place to see it will be on www.earache.com, stills from this week’s shoot can be seen online here at www.earache.com/archive/Akercocke/Picture1.jpg and www.earache.com/archive/Akercocke/Picture2.jpg.

GETTING ‘COCKE excellent fan and critics response to new album ‘WORDS THAT GO UNSPOKEN, DEEDS THAT GO UNDONE’
Akercocke are chuffed to fuck that their latest album ‘WORDS THAT GO UNSPOKEN, DEEDS THAT GO UNDONE’ is turning out to be the classic they knew they’d recorded over the past six months.

Released on EARACHE on October 10th, their most experimental opus to date is garnering unprecedented top-drawer reviews from all corners of the globe.

Eyebrows might have initially been raised when the London outfit announced they were about to take extreme metal to another level by throwing everything but the kitchen sink into the mix, but the euphoric reception both from virtually the entire world rock media is proving, not only their most monumental album ever, by far, but also as a serious contender for album of the year!!

AKERCOCKE just finished up a short UK tour where they found out that not only the media were raising the horns en masse but the fans too were joining in the mania and had been out in enough force on release to catapult them into the UK national indie charts.

NEW ALBUM TAKES FORM
Akercocke have once again entered their very own Goat of Mendes studios in West London to record their fourth album.
The tentatively titled "Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone" promises to be the bands most ambitious project to date.

"The new material is a progression again from Choronzon" explains frontman Jason Mendonca. "The core Akercocke elements are there - harrowing dissonances, bludgeoning brutality and cacodaemonic sonic assaults all feature but once again we have expanded the Akercocke sound to include more rich and diverse textures, not necessarily  bound by the confines of Death and Black metal.
Recording is going very well. David recorded 11 songs worth of drums in about two hours. We spent a weekend getting the drums to sound right and then David delivered some stellar performances, putting most of the material down in one take.  New boy Matt (ex Berzerker shred master Matthew Wilcock)  and I have set  about recording the guitar parts and we're about halfway through that process. I am really excited by the way the tracks are sounding so far. Words.....will undoubtedly be the best sounding Akercocke release yet." Neil Kernon is once again in the frame for mixing duties and the band plan to finalise  "Words that go unspoken..." with Neil in the USA during the first week August.

Equal parts Emperor, Suffocation, Killing Joke, and Rush, Akercocke fuse black metal, death metal, gothic metal, and rock into their own unique Satanic mass, carrying on the Satanic tradition cultivated long ago by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

Prepare for "Choronzon", Akercocke's Earache debut, hitting US stores November 4th. A breathtaking metal epic, "Choronzon" flows from start to finish with perfectly crafted, perfectly executed songs. Gliding through black metal, death metal, gothic metal, and rock, "Choronzon" is the testament of a band unfettered by the expectations of the flock, following none other than their own dark muse.

Mixed by legendary producer Neil Kernon (Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Judas Priest) at Sonic Ranch Studio in Texas, USA, and featuring cover art by Fin Costello (the artist behind such legendary covers as Rush's "Permanent Waves" and Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark at the Moon"), "Choronzon" is the last essential metal album of 2003.

AKERCOCKE REVEAL 'CHORONZON' COVER ART
Earache new signings Akercocke have revealed the cover art for their forthcoming Earache debut, "Choronzon". Designed by bassist Peter Theobalds and photographed by legendary UK rock photographer Fin Costello, the cover provides a glimpse into the dark, theatrical universe of Akercocke's gothic occult metal.
Renowned for his photographs of such rock icons as Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, and Bauhaus, and for his album covers for such classic albums as Ozzy Osbourne's "Bark At The Moon" and Rush's "Permanent Waves", Costello was Akercocke's "first choice, no question", according to vocalist/guitarist Jason Mendonca. "We are all huge fans of Bauhaus and Rush... as well as Emperor and Suffocation", Mendonca proclaimed.

"Choronzon" is set for a European release 20th October and a U.S. release 4th November
Easily eclipsing previous releases from the band, 'Choronzon' oozes class and menance in equal measures.
The band have adpated the discipine applied to their Satanic beliefs into a highly cultured, focused musical outpouring. 'Choronzon' (who occultists consider 'guardian of the abyss') snakes between Death and Black Metal,
incorporating sinister instrumental interludes, and alternate guttural and more considered vocals. Add to this superb photography from Fin Costello, and you have one hell of an album.

While the suits may grab your attention, its the music that will ultimately win you over. Believe the hype - Akercocke are the real deal!

EARACHE NEW SIGNING - AKERCOCKE
Earache is proud to announce the signing of Akercocke to a worldwide multi-album recording deal. The deal will see the band release their brand new 'Choronzon' album at the end of the year, with subsequent touring to be announced.

Akercocke have risen to sinister prominence via the self released 'Rape of the Bastard Nazarene' album in 1999 and the bludgeoning follow up 'Goat of Mendes' in 2001, each displaying Satanic majesty cloaked in occult eroticism. The band's commitment to their cause celebre is marked by both musical and personal discipline, exemplified by the members distinctive, highly tailored appearance.
Also central to the Akercocke ethos is the homage paid to The Blast, the primordial meeting of musical, personal and philosophical paths in harmony at any given moment within a song.

It is Akercocke's distinct and completely authentic presentation that has led to the deal with Earache. Earache label manager Dan Tobin comments;

"Akercocke fit perfectly the Earache criteria of extremity in all areas. The band's music is without question among the most challenging and innovative in the extreme Metal scene right now. Their insistence on high quality and their refusal to deviate from their chosen path is what makes the band so intriguing and so individual. We look forward to aiding Akercocke in spreading their Satanic majesty via the awesome new 'Choronzon' album later this year."

Akercocke vocalist/guitarist Jason Mendonca adds:
"We are proud to follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as Terrorizer, Morbid Angel and more recently Deicide by joining forces with Earache. It is fitting that our band should work with a label that has lead the way in promoting extreme music and we look forward to a productive partnership. We are also very pleased to be conspiring with Neil Kernon to make Choronzon as punishing and massive sounding as possible. Beware! Choronzon is coming."

'Choronzon' will be mixed at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas by Neil Kernon during July. News on an official release date will be issued shortly.
