Haggard Cat is Tom Marsh and Matt Reynolds, previously operating as 50% of the frenzied and raucous shit-kicking UK hardcore noise merchants Heck. Channeling the same attitude and fire, but this time stuffing it kicking and screaming into an unwieldy 2-piece band, Haggard Cat are already causing a stir – signing early to world famous Earache Records and releasing a collection of brilliantly creative music videos to accompany their tunes.
Initially intended by the pair as a side project amidst Heck downtime, Haggard Cat has slowly evolved into an entity of its own right. 2017 led to initial early tours with the likes of Jamie Lenman, DZ Deathrays and Weirds as well as playing a headline slot at Camden Rocks and opening the main stage at ArcTanGent festival.
Sonically the band are more akin to the Jack White, Royal Blood and Death From Above 1979 world than they are Heck. It’s rock, it’s blues, it’s heavy and you can move to it. Time to get those dancing shoes ready.
With their debut Earache album ‘Challenger’ out now, the band are busy playing shows up and down the UK and even venturing into Europe. Their singles ‘The Patriot’, ‘Bone Shaker’ and ‘American Graffiti’ have all enjoyed national British airplay on BBC Radio 1 (via Daniel P. Carter) as well as support from BBC Introducing, Kerrang! TV and Kerrang! Radio.
Have you seen the Haggard Cat?
Miss this summer at your peril.
