Rob Oorthuis of The Nox... |
1. Rob, its been a while since the band signed a deal with Wicked World, to the present time when the recording will take place, why the long delay?
Perfection, creativity and several acts of God withheld us from recording so
far. Nox refuses to bullshit around with mediocre music. We want to stick out above the masses with songs that will not only stand now, but also after fifteen years. But it takes preparation to do so.
Yeah, we take our time to capture the feeling needed for a song, there's so
many ways. We are both blessed and damned to be able to pick and choose from such a wide variety of ideas for each song. And yeah, we take our time to perfect our playing-abilities as well.
Nox will be taken seriously music-wise, which is important when you want to make your message come across. Logistically we encountered some problems that kept us from rehearsing for a couple of months. Let's just say God is not happy Nox is around. Anyway, there is no delay and time is just an idea. Some riffs on the new album were written in 1992, which was about yesterday. This summer will be the right time to blow up the world with 'Ixaxaar'.
2. Can you describe how the band Nox differs from your previous bands
And also describe why you are so excited about what Nox has to offer?
Centurian was practice. Nox is the real deal. The song-writing, lyrics, the playing, everything is just a hundred times more professional. There has not been that much attack and violence in Centurian, than we have now in Nox.
We are focused as never before. What Nox has to offer? A Chaosathanic kick in the ass for the extreme metal scene..
3. The rumours are that the upcoming Nox album will be basically a highly conceptual record, can you comment about that and let us in to any of the ideology that make up the record's theme?
This is not a concept album or any of that kind. However, within the lyrics of Nox there will always be one consistent theme apparent which is Chaos and everything related to it.
"'xaxaar', originally, is the name of a stone which can be seen as a seal, a doorway to Hell. It's numerical value is 333, which relates it heavily to Choronzon of course. It was appropriate to call the album 'Ixaxaar', for it is made to carry the listener through corridors that lead to nothingness and madness and victory over Order. The songs on the album are rites in itself and one cannot undergo them unchanged, unless one is already mad.
4. Two members of Nox are of course heavily involved in Severe Torture, are you at all worried that the two bands might possibly conflict in the future?
Of course, it's an advantage that both bands are on Wicked World/Earache,
which may make things easier. We don't see any big troubles.
5. At this point, what's your main wish as far as people's understanding of the album is concerned?
First of all, enjoy the music.
Our main wish would be to lift mortals and immortals to another level, where their infernal intellect has more space to get triggered. Which, eventually, will reflect here upon earth.
